During the month of March the largest tradition of the shrimp industry in Darien GA is the "Blessing of the Fleet" for a safe and bountiful season. During Covid 19 they had to postpone this event. Still, in my mind I could see all the shrimp boats lining up for the blessing and taking off to sea.
While doing this painting in my new series about the lore, legends and labors of the the sea through the daily happenings on a coastal Georgia Seaport, I saw a posting online that was a quote from Martin Luther KIng, "We may have all come on different ships but we're in the same boat now" and was inspired by how we have our own journeys to travel .
